Dean’s Birthday

June 7, 2012 at 10:01 am 2 comments

If you stop to think about it, there could probably be no better commemoration of this day — what would have been Dean Martin‘s 95th birthday — than to behold the popular renaissance that the man and his artistry are currently enjoying, through the reissue of his recordings and episodes of his vaunted television series, as well as efforts such as ours and others that pay ongoing homage to his legacy.

Dean, if you’re watching from above, you’d see that far from being largely forgotten (as you reportedly felt toward the end of your life), you are fondly and warmly remembered by millions. And for folks like us, not a day goes by that your presence isn’t in our thoughts and your spirit in our hearts.

Salud, pallie.

So true and yes almost everyday we think about him, How fortunate I was to work on his show and sing next to him, and enjoy his spirit!! So many memories of the good times and beautiful music and many laughs. Dean you are loved by many and truly missed, but I believe you are eternal, as we all are, and we all shall meet again someday to wish you a very happy birthday on your special day.

Yep, at least a couple of times a day I find myself humming one of his songs. My students are always asking me what I’m humming. Nope, he’s definitely not forgotten. I sure do wish that I’d met him in his prime. Not sure how he’ll look in a white robe!
