Lindsay’s Birthday: An Aerial Adventure!

BLUE, WITH A BLUSH OF RED: Lindsay Bloom, who’s gone from Dean Martin Show singer-dancer, to portraying Jean Harlow on the big screen, to playing gal Friday to fictional detective Mike Hammer, displays her birthday bouquet.

As many alumnae of The Golddiggers and Dingaling Sisters can doubtless attest, balancing career, marriage, and motherhood is no easy task. But one who’s always seemed particularly adept at navigating this high-wire act is Lindsay Bloom, whose stint as the last Dingaling Sister to join the sorority (during the 1972-73 season of The Dean Martin Show) was only the start of a prolific run of parts that she’d go on to play in movies and on television — including a regular role as Velda, seductive secretary to Stacy Keach‘s lead character on the CBS-TV series Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer.

Staying grounded while maintaining one’s equilibrium amid the vertiginous vicissitudes of life in Hollywood is a struggle for any performer; but as illustrated by the excerpt below from a guest appearance that Lindsay made on a mid-1980s edition of the CBS special Circus Of The Stars, the Blue-Eyed Blonde Fox (then sporting a brunette coif for her role on Mike Hammer), possessed an obvious natural dexterity and acrobatic ability that perhaps gave her an advantage in moving forward along a straight and narrow path.

After watching her tackle the tightrope, we hope that all of Lindsay’s friends and fans will join all of us here at Dean, Golds and Dings in wishing her a very Happy Birthday, and Many, Many More.

    Happy Birthday to YOU Lindsay!
I have a vivid memory of you walking that tight rope. We were glued to the screen! It was the absolute BEST thing I ever saw on Circus With The Stars!
